They’re quite obviously still in there.
They were doing somersaults or something tonight so I grabbed the camera.
This is Claire, the REALLY pregnant one. I keep expecting her to pop the babies out, but no luck so far. Just this incredibly wiggly, somewhat freaky belly movement.
*Hint, watch the top part of her belly. If you’re not thinking “whoa” then watch it again because it is, you know, “whoa.”

Still no babies!
Waiting patiently but still no babies. The poor things.. I look forward to the babies if for no other reason than to give the poor moms something to do. I play cat TV, give copious amounts of catnip and treats, brought a tunnel and bought them a couple of toys, but there is only so much fun two cats can have in one room. They at least seem a lot happier when I’m in here, so I’m thankful that I made the last-minute call to keep them in the office over the guest bedroom. I can tap away on the computer while spending them time with them now.
Will update when there is real news!

And another video…
Happy paws, originally uploaded by estacey.
You can see how full those bellies are. I swear, I can see the babies moving in there from across the room.

This is where they’re staying.

I can’t embed movies, apparently, so videos have to be on their own. This is the girls in the office, chillin’ out. Cross your fingers that we have some healthy babies soon!

Meet Olivia & Claire
I got a mass email the other day that said someone had found two cats, one of which was pregnant, and couldn’t keep them. I had fostered kittens before, and twice fostered mamacats and their kittens, so I had the experience, and since I’m going to be around for the next couple of months, I couldn’t see why I wouldn’t foster one. So I got the OK from my hubby and gave the people a call. It turned out that BOTH cats were pregnant. I said I’d drive down to meet them, thinking I would take whichever cat looked more pregnant. Then I got there and found out they were sisters and super sweet with each other.. and both were VERY pregnant… so, you know, I took ‘em both.
When I got to talking to the people who had them, it turns out that the one lady is one that founded and runs Cat Pals. There was a huge feral cat colony on Hollywood Beach, so apparently they started this organization to keep the population in check and keep the city from doing anything bad to the cats. They instituted a TNR policy – trapping, neutering, and releasing all the cats and letting the colony die off naturally rather than taking drastic measures to get rid of them – and got the population down from 300 to 50. After this horrible economic downturn and so many foreclosures, it’s back up to something like 108 from people abandoning their cats at the beach. These two cats were ones that were being abandoned. Abandoned and pregnant. Who does that to their poor cats? Ones they’ve probably had since they were kittens, considering they’re sisters.
Once I got them home, I found that they both had fleas and worms. I had some Revolution kitten doses, which are safe for pregnant cats, so I was able to treat their fleas but the worm treatment has to wait until after the babies are born.
They have taken up residence in the room we use as our office. One of them likes to sleep on the printer and the other one sleeps on my computer chair. They want to come out of this room so bad, but I have other pets so they really can’t be out and about when they have worms and stuff. They seem to be happy enough most of the time in here. I got the a big catnip ball and some toys and I play Cat TV on the computer for them. Anyone have suggestions on anything else I can do for them? We have a sliding glass door here so they lay and look outside during the day, but at night the one seems really bored. She keeps climbing up my bookshelf and stuff.
I decided to name them Olivia and Claire… If you k now me you’ll know where the names come from. I can’t assign names until I get some different-colored collars for them seeing as how they are IDENTICAL. They even move the same. I can’t tell them apart unless they’re standing right next to each other because one cat is a little more pregnant than the other.
They are both extremely sweet. They do the head-butt thing with me to get me to pet them. They go all crazy rubbing against our legs when we come in the room. When I’m deep in snuggle-petting them, I keep thinking of apologies.. These cats deserved better than what they got: people who let them get fleas, worms, and pregnant.. and then abandoned them to a who-kn0ws-what kind of future, without anyone to care for them. I am hoping so much that when all this is done that they find good homes like I know their kittens will. They deserve it.
My office is about to become really crazy and smelly. Come back here for pictures and videos and cat and kitten news!
